About Red Rose
HOW DID THE NAME RED ROSE COME ABOUT?
Red Rose Dog Walking was built based on one simple principle: my love for dogs! Dogs deserve the world, and they deserve to be given their proverbial flowers.
That’s how the name “Red Rose” came about. The red rose is a symbol of our love and affection for the ones that we love (in this case, our fellow furry friends). Red Rose Dog Walking is also a play on the “rosette ribbon,” which is given to each winning dog of their respective category in dog competitions.
But that’s the thing - with Red Rose, EVERY dog’s a winner, and they will be treated as such in every way possible!
Thorn Hughes
Owner/Dog Walker
My name is Thorn, and I am the owner and your designated walker for your fellow rose buds! I have been a dog owner since I was 10 years old, and my love for dogs have grown ever since then. Over the years, as a pet owner, I have learned so much - from our pets’ dietary needs and health provisions to training and, most of all, providing them with love and affection. Over the years, I have been the proud owner and foster parent to many breeds and all different sizes, from Labradors to Boston Terriers, and in 2015, I began working in various dog daycare and boarding facilities, which has always been such an amazing experience. That is where I gained hands-on experience in caring and supporting other clients’ dogs, learning how to provide medication, a variety of feeding instructions in order to meet preferences, and of course, gaining interest in dog walking.
After 2 years in Mississippi and 3 years in Colorado of working in daycare facilities, It was in New Jersey where I focused on only dog walking, as I worked for Hamilton Bark. It was further confirmation from there that I found what brought me so much joy and was one of my main purposes on this Earth: to serve a community of dogs in any way that I can!
This led to the creation of Red Rose Dog Walking Services. I moved back to Colorado because life is so beautiful here, and it’s the pawfect place to start this new journey of walking amazing dogs! I am truly excited about this experience, as I have and will continue to put my heart and soul into assuring that I provide a safe, wonderful, and fun-filled experience for my clients and their fur babies!
(Pictured along with me is my sweet and handsome German Shepherd child, Rayden. He is 3 years old and has been the most perfectly amazing thing in my life! He LOVES making new friends, playing fetch, squeaky toys, and sleeping on couches!)
